Copynotes: The volume contains some fascinating manuscript annotations and marginalia, but unfortunately we could not attribute any of the examples to a specific owner/reader/annotator due to a lack of firm provenance evidence. At the bottom of the title page there appears to be a set of initials that could indicate a former owner but would need more sustained attention and research to determine if the initials are in fact ownership marks and then to identify the potential owner. Unfortunately, at some point the volume was rebound and the pages cut, so now the very first line of the annotation is missing except the first three words and perhaps the last word which are decipherable. There are other manuscript additions throughout the rest of the book. The binding is old polished calf.
Editionnotes: Pt. 2 has special title page: The second part of the faerie qveene: containing the fovrth, fift, & sixt booke.
